PBIS

School-wide positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) are research-validated strategies designed to create school environments that promote and support appropriate behavior of all students. As school community common behavioral expectations are identified that can apply to all students in all school settings and situations. These common expectations are then directly and explicitly taught to all students to create an atmosphere in which students know what is expected of them at all times. Furthermore, in a PBIS framework, students are systematically and frequently acknowledged for their appropriate behavior. Undesired behavior, when it occurs, is responded to swiftly and consistently. The end result is creating a school environment that teaches students skills to behave appropriately, positively acknowledges students engaging in those behaviors, and provides consistency and stability in interactions among students and staff members.

PBIS Rewards an automated digital point system. At CGE PBIS Rewards is utilized to recognize and celebrate all students when they successfully demonstrate one or more of the common expectations of being respectful, responsible, and safe. Students work toward a goal and earn points to “purchase” items in a school or class store.
